It was in 7th grade after I saw the movie “The Birth of a Legend” the Pete Maravich Story, that I became in love with the game of basketball.
As much as I loved to play, I was always having to prove I belonged due to my small size. After getting cut from a local travel team and sitting
the bench on my junior high team, I realized that I needed to go above and beyond everyone else and start out working players. The summer entering
my freshman year of high school, I can not remember a day where I was not playing basketball. I even protested going on a family vacation because
it would mean I would have to take a week off from playing basketball. This strong work ethic was starting to pay off as I became a starter on my
high school teams. However it was not until the summer going into my senior year that I decided to take my training to another level. I lived in
the gym and on the playground. In a matter of one year I went from averaging 8ppg as a junior to averaging 23ppg as a senior and being part of a
I was named one of the top 20 players in the state of Illinois by the Chicago Sun Times and received a division one basketball scholarship to
Eastern Illinois University. I played two years at EIU then transferred to Carthage College. At Carthage College I was named all conference and
was the CCIW Defensive Player of the Year. Carthage was ranked #1 in the country both years.
Upon graduating from Carthage College, I participated in the NBA Summer League before playing professionally in Greece and Germany the past 10
years. In 2012 I was named European Player of the Year in Germany for BG Hagen.
In addition to my playing credentials, I have over 15 years of coaching experience. Among those credits are Head Varsity Coach at Downers Grove
North High School, Varsity Assistant at Downers Grove South High School and Head Sophomore Coach at Hinsdale South High School. I was also Head
Coach and Founder of the Illinois Kings AAU program from 2002-2009. This team won three state championships and finished the 2009 17U AAU basketball
season ranked 13th in the country. All ten players went on to play college basketball.
Breakaway Basketball is now in its 5th year and is responsible for training over 8000 players a year and also trains over 200 travel and high
My favorite part of the basketball season is the offseason because that is the time where you make huge gains in your game. I am excited to share
my passion and my knowledge on how to be the best player you can be.
